After a 4am wake-up call & an early Uber trip to the airport, I jumped on board my Virgin Australia flight to Adelaide. I’ve been to Adelaide twice before, but this was my first trip up to the picturesque Adelaide Hills region – so I was looking forward to it!
Today’s training would be held at a self storage facility in Adelaide Hills– the aptly-named Adelaide Hills Storage. The flight came in low alongside the city, which provided a fantastic view from above – and some great photos, too (one of which I’ve included for you below). We landed at 9:30am and Leanne from Adelaide Hills Storage was there waiting for me, so we took in the scenery on the ~45 minute drive to the 300 unit facility in the hills.
In the training, I covered a range of topics relating to their facility and their StorMan self storage management software – including autofill agreements, SMS notices, the StorMan map, merchandise packs and much more. The staff provided a delicious lunch from a lovely bakery across the road, too! I thoroughly enjoyed my day and trust that the staff enjoyed the training course.
After the training, we headed to The Haus for the Self Storage Association of Australasia’s (SSAA’s) Regional Meeting. The Haus is located in Hahndorf, Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement – and the food, as you’ll see from the photos below, was fantastic… rivalling that of the SSAA’s Chez Pierre dinner venue in Perth last week or their Melbourne dinner venue, the Heide Museum of Modern Art, from the week before that.
It was great, as always, to chat to our existing customers – as well as speak to those new to the industry to see what they have planned for the future. Given the event was held 45 minutes from the city of Adelaide, the turnout was fantastic – one of the largest the SSAA has had for a meeting in South Australia, with about 35 attending.
Our guest speaker for the evening was Shay from Universal Storage Containers who discussed their fantastic modular storage container solution – certainly worth a look if you’d like to maximise space and save costs at your self storage facility!
After the dinner meeting, I was kindly offered a lift back into town by Martin & Elaine from Lock Distributors, another Association Service Member who had flown in from interstate for the meeting; thank you for the lift! After a short sleep, I was back at the airport and heading home to Brisbane.
Thanks to everyone from Adelaide Hills Self Storage who took part in the training – and to everyone at the SSAA dinner. I look forward to seeing you again next time I visit South Australia.
PS: We might be in your area soon! Check out our upcoming training sessions.
