As many of you know, there have been a few changes in the US software supplier market at the moment and one of the big ones was RentPlus being bought out by Centershift. This has caused many operators in the US to re-evaluate their position when it comes to choosing their software.
Over the last 5 – 6 weeks we have had many operators ask us if we have a RentPlus converter. I am pleased to say that we have had one for many years now as self storage operators see value in moving to StorMan. So what’s involved in converting from RentPlus 1.8, or RentPlus 2.0 (their most recent version)?
Converting from RentPlus 1.8
This is a fairly straightforward process, as RentPlus 1.8 was based upon a Microsoft product known as Microsoft Office Access. This system had a lot of problems – one of them being that it was easy to get into.
As a consequence, anyone using RentPlus 1.8 has been concerned that people can take data from their database with relative ease. Hence, we have had a converter for it for a long time (almost 5 years now).
Converting from RentPlus 2.0
RentPlus 2.0, on the other hand, is based on an SQL platform – in particular Microsoft SQL, and is harder to get into. Rest assured, however, that we also have a converter for this as well. As many of the US operators look at alternative products it’s interesting to see that many of them are unconvinced by the “web” model and are still looking for a robust easy to use application that sits on their local machine.
I am pleased to say that StorMan is well positioned to handle this and many other challenges as the global self storage software market shifts into the next generation.
To anyone who has RentPlus versions 1.8 or 2.0 and is looking to change, please contact our regional office in your area and speak to one of our staff about what we can do for you. Thank you.
